I like the custom fit. I tried it on my other colleague, and it doesn’t fit them quite as well as it fits the one that I measured and sent photos for. Thank you for making a cone that allows my dog to do some of his normal activities, and is less likely to slip his “pencil head “out of!
So much better than the “classic cone.” My boy is much more comfortable and isn’t fighting this, like he did the alternative. He can still eat and drink while recovering from surgery in far more comfort. He is 90lbs in a large, so a big dog! This made a huge difference!

We made the mistake of shortening the cone by cutting off the first ring, and our dog was then able to contort himself enough to do lick and damage a rear foot wound. So, we ordered another one and now he can’t get to his rear foot any more. Yay! However, he scrapes it on everything outside to get it off, and it scratches pretty easily, and he can’t see through it any more. So we’ll probably order another one, and try to keep him from scraping it on everything.
At first he tried his hardest to tear it off. When he realized he could not destroy it, he calmed down.
I have been dealing with my dog hotspot for two weeks straight, wearing the traditional e-collar he still was able to reach the areas while wearing the cone which was making the healing process worse than what it should be. I then started researching alternatives and I came across the website. Within four days of using the new collar from this company, my dog’s hotspot have begun to heal as he no longer has access to his to his hotspot in his healing is coming along wonderfully all things to this wonderful product.
My dog can get through the doggie door with ease! Great product. We put some tape folded over to put around the edges to add some comfort against the plastic edge around the ears. Super people to work with. They follow up on the order to make sure it's a perfect fit for your pet.
This is an ingenious design! I really appreciate the way the ears are outside the cone -- very helpful for floppy ears that get gunky if they don't get good airflow. It would work much better than a standard cone to keep a long-necked, long-nosed dog from messing with his stitches. Our dog in particular has very large ear bases, so he needed a size up, but we're keeping the original one we ordered for other dogs who might need it in the future.
Puppy had mouth surgery and has been wearing the recovery cone with zero problems. He can eat and drink with the cone on. I can maneuver around the house without bumping into things and he can also hear very well since his ears are on the outside of the cone. Absolutely wonderful product! The two specialized veterinarians now want to start recommending the recovery cone to their patients.

Purchased for my dog after eye surgery. I found it so much less stressful for him. He was able to walk around the house and enjoy the outdoors on the day after surgery. Conventional e collar was very difficult for this him. A bit of an investment but customer service was great as were the fitting instructions. I’d definitely recommend.
After trying just about every type of E-collar made to stop my Great Dane from licking and aggravating a wound on his rear paw, I stumbled upon the Novaguard and figured it was my last hope before putting him into the last resort, a no lick muzzle. He is 160lbs with a long neck and snout. He's apparently very flexible as well. I did not trim the cone as I needed the extra length to keep him away from his paw. There was a learning curve and one of the largest hurdles has been the sound of the velcro during removal. He was able to slide the collar down on his neck but that was easily remedied with inflatable "donut" to take up the space on his neck. Thank you for making a great product. I definitely recommend and would not hesitate to purchase again if the need arises.
This is amazing! My dog was afraid to move with the hugh cone from my vet. She would sit in the same spot for hours hanging her head. The Novaguard fit perfectly with just a little easy adjustment and she was not able to reach her injured toe. She can walk around, eat and sleep very easily. My sister raved about this product after successfully using it on her dogs. Now I understand why she was so pleased. I highly recommend Novaguard.
I've used conventional and soft e-collars for years, and decided to give the ProVizor a try with a recent spay. The photo shows how both collars have roughly the same coverage in terms of preventing the dog from reaching an incision/wound (the angle makes the ProVizor look longer. If it is, it's quite subtle), but the way it fits is totally different from a conventional e-collar shape since it sits on the skull like a golf visor. The flare of the collar is really, really different which means less catching on crate doors, easier turning, less likely to be used as a weapon against your legs (for bigger dogs). If you're like me and keep a dog first aid bin for emergencies, you may want to take a look at the ProVizor. I ordered two sizes so I knew I'd find a fit.
The NovaGuard has been a genuine godsend for my dog. Surgical suits and traditional cone alternatives were not keeping him away from his surgical area but the NovaGuard not only helps his recovery but he doesn’t mind wearing it in the slightest.
This worked so well for my greyhound! If you have a greyhound, you know that finding something that fits them can be difficult. My greyhound was recovering from stitches near his mouth, but the regular cones did not fit and kept falling off. This worked perfectly! Thanks to this he was able to heal safely.
Our greyhound had an eye injury and we were having trouble with the traditional cone, he still found ways to rub his eye on things. A friend recommended this and I absolutely love it. It stays in place and is more narrow at the opening, and longer, so it completely protects his face. This was a life saver. His wound started healing faster once we put this one him, being more of a proper fit, and we got more rest because we didn’t have to keep checking to make sure he didn’t stuff something into his cone to rub his eye on (he isn’t a good patient lol). It’s also much easier for him to get around, with the more narrow opening, he doesn’t bang it as much on doors or walls. I HIGHLY recommend it!

The NovaGuard collar is perfect for greyhounds! We got the small/medium and it fits both my 60lb girl and my 82lb boy. The slim profile is much easier for them to deal with. Highly recommend!
Her cyst was on her tail, so a place she could access with almost any arrangement of cones. She even managed with this extended version and we had to devise yet something else. None the less, I love these, especially that the ears are free; not collecting moisture or amplified sound. The ease to put it on and off; and that the weight primarily rests on the head piece, rather than the animal's neck.
Purchased this for my border collie who was having eye surgery. He got used to wearing is pretty quickly (lots of treats involved!). I trimmed the length a bit and used the foam to create a tighter fit. The foam helps to keep it from sliding around, but does seem to flake a bit from rubbing his head. Not good when you’re trying to protect his eye, but manageable.
It was easy to assemble. My dog cannot remove it and he is very tolerant of it. He can drink, eat and sleep with it. It is easy for us to remove it and clean. It does not touch is eye. Fantastic product!
This cone worked perfect for my corgi, traditional cones sat on his ears and didnt allow room for eating/drinking or moving around comfortably with getting the cone caught on everything! After an eye injury and back in forth in a cone this style has been a life saver for both of us!
I am part of a Shar-Pei rescue organization and our dogs routinely come to us with entropian, which is when the eyelash rolls in and scratches the cornea. These dogs are in pain and can barely see until their eyelids are surgically corrected. With that said, they need eye protection until the delicate surgery is healed...enter the Optivizor. These things are great! No more running into the back of my legs, crashing into kitchen cabinets, furniture and door casings. The dogs don't freak out anymore and are way more comfortable in the Optivizor. They can eat, drink and get their ears cleaned or medicated (which is also another Shar-Pei condition) while wearing the Optivizor. I purchased a medium one years ago and have used it on multiple dogs over the years. Shar-Pei heads come in all sizes so I am back ordering small/medium for some smaller dogs that I've fostered here lately. You cannot go wrong with these collars.
Perfect for my basset hound. I wish I would have had this ordered before his eye removal surgery. I didn’t know about this site until after. But this is absolutely perfect!
The medium was a good fit for my Basset Hound and he adjusted o wearing it quickly. It was so much easier for him, being so low to the ground, he didn’t get it caught on the ground or steps while walking. This was a huge problem with a traditional e-collar. Our veterinarian was impressed with it as well. I will be recommending it!
This is such a great idea- it does take some work to get it to fit properly but it is worth it. She is still getting used to moving around with it, but is able to settle when laying down. It is so nice to have her big German Shepherd ears out and not crushed in the other type of e collar!
The OptiVizor and NovaGuard Recovery Collar have worked wonderfully for our elderly dog for the treatment of recurrent corneal abrasions. He wears the OptiVizor during the day, which allows him to navigate the house easily and eat and drink without issue. Since his nose is exposed he can use his sense of smell to guide him, explore, and play which is important since his eyesight is poor. And more importantly he can't rub his eyes when wearing either product. He wears the NovaGuard Recovery Collar when it's time to administer eyedrops. I give him the eyedrops and quickly slip the NovaGuard on because he immediately tries pawing at his eyes. It works at blocking him every time! Both products are far more superior to the traditional Elizabethan collar which caused him to bump into things and feel frustrated. With the OptiVizor and NovaGuard he's up and about, interacts with his environment, and can rest comfortably when he wants to.
If your pet needs a cone THIS is a fantastic option! Not once did my legs get chopped up by the cone and our dog was able to eat/drink/use the doggie door all while wearing her cone. 5 stars (out of 5)

Our Great Dane Milo has had a lick granuloma on his front leg for over 3 years. He licks it when we leave due to canine OCD and separation anxiety. We tried countless cones and sleeves, but nothing was long enough or strong enough to keep him away from licking his leg until it bled! This is the first cone we have found that actually worked and I think it is the most comfortable one since the ears hang out! The photo is the cone without it cut for reference on the length compared to the snout of a Great Dane (140 lbs). I highly recommend this cone and can’t thank their customer service enough for all their advice and quick responses through email!!
It made it so much easier on our baby! Allowed her to comfortably go out the doggie door and having her ears out made it so all noises weren’t so loud!

I love it! Cooper probably doesn’t care for it much because he can’t reach his hot spots, lol but that means it works. I love how it lets his ears breath to prevent from ear infections. All in all I love it and it works perfectly. No complaints and will probably order more in the future! Definitely recommend and so happy I came across these!
Our dog would get yeast infections in his ear with the regular cones. After we bought the Nova Guard his ear infection did not come back as his ears can breathe now. I highly recommend this product. The customer service was excellent. I had ordered the wrong size but sent a pic of our dog and someone from customer service reached out to me and told me the correct size I should have.

My lab has seasonal and food allergies and so regularly struggles with hot spots. The standard e-cone just does not do it. This design is great - keeping her ears free, and so much smaller and narrower than the standard cone! Customer service was super responsive and helpful! Word to the wise - follow the instructions/recommendations provided and wait to cut down the guard. I cut down the guard too soon, and my dog was too persistently trying to get to her paws by pushing the guard back off her forehead. Rookie mistake.

I purchased this in advance of a known eyelid surgery. This works much better than a traditional e-collar and it is more comfortable for the dog. Having a giant breed, an e-collar barely fits through doorways! This cone is much narrower yet long enough to fully protect the face and eyes. The only thing I would change would be to add some sort of padding, perhaps similar to the brow band, at the sides/cheek area of the cone.
Fantastic customer service! Very helpful and fast email responses. I was in desperate need of a better design of e collar for my Doberman who has a long snout and thin neck. The Novaguard provided a custom fit that still allows his ears to be exposed. The thinner cone made for a lot less crashes into legs or walls too. I highly recommend this product !
