How to Apply & Ensure a Correct Fit

Ensuring your Recovery Vizor is properly sized to your horse is essential to receiving the maximum benefits of its superior design elements.

Each order includes detailed instructions, tips and helpful reminders to properly size and fit the Recovery Vizor to your horse. Should you have any questions, we are always here to help!

Cleaning and Maintenance
- Wash with mild liquid soap, rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. Do NOT soak it in a solution or the clear Vizor will absorb the color turning it cloudy.
- The Recovery Vizor will inevitably scratch over time. How much really depends on the activity level of your horse and their environment. It is better the Vizor takes the bump & scratches then your horse’s eyes!
- Cold Weather: Temperatures below 32°F freezing may result in cracking of the Vizor. The material will stiffen in colder weather when not on your horse. Simply use a hair dryer or safely leave in the front of a heater for a couple of minutes to soften and reshape prior to putting on your horse.
- Replacement Quick-Release Clips can be purchased on our website.

- All orders are generally shipped via United States Postal Service. Based on the size of the order, buyers will have the choice of selecting Priority Express, Priority, or First Class mail.

Fast Shipping! The Visor was recommended by a Veterinarian. It works great for my horse since he has an eye condition. Currently he is having to stay in his stall. Only negative is that the fleece is hard to clean and that he got a few rubs from the straps when we first got it. Definitely worth the money.

Colten injured his eye and developed a secondary fungal infection. He required surgery at NC state. We are on our recovery process and while the clear one is great his affected eye was photo sensitive in the day time sun. We are in the midst of a hot summer and another layer of the fly mask on top was making him too hot. This is the perfect solution! I am so grateful for the product.

I worked with my vet to pick out the best post laser eye surgery mask for my horse and this was the pick. The 90% UV protection and 30% tint against all light was very important. The tint barely changed the colour of things, allowing it to be worn safely at night. The structure did not collapse when rolling. The fuzzy edging makes the mask comfortable to wear and did not leave any rub marks. Lastly, and most importantly, my horse has managed to take off every type of fly mask ever worn, however this recovery visor stayed on every day!

Love this product for my mare to prevent Uveitis. Staff at Protective Pet Solutions reached out to me about the sizing before shipping - thankfully they did because the full size I originally ordered would have been way too small. Only concern is the visor seems to be rubbing and causing an open wound despite the fleece lined edge.

This shield is fantastic! My Mare struggles yearly with flare ups and eye ulcers due to keratitis. This shield prevents her from rubbing the eye as well as shielding from debris allowing it to heal. I got the dark tint to protect her eye from the sun. It also comes with a fly mask made to go over the shield. It’s well worth the purchase.

I bought the recovery vizor for a horse that got kicked in the face and has a severe eye socket fracture. Our vet told us he would need eye protection for an extended period of time . It fits great and he enjoys wearing it. Of note I measured incorrectly and placed an order for one that would have been to small. This was the third time I ordered these Recovery Vizor. They are the best products to protect your horses from rubbing their eyes and face. They give me the peace of mind knowing that my horse will not be able to rub her eye directly on the stall with these vizors on. I recommended all horse owners to have these in their barn as you may need them right away if your horse injure it's eye. I keep at least 2 of them as I wash each everyday so my horse will always have a clean vizor every morning. The only downside are 1) the plastic gets foggy over the time 2) the net torn off after a month of covering it on the vizor. I will continue to buy more as the old ones become worn out.

My 19-year old Quarter Horse was recently very suddenly stricken with a fever of unknown origin and the infection attacked his eyes resulting in severe uveitis. He was rushed to the equine medical center for treatment. Luckily I had previously heard of the Recovery Equivizor from a veterinarian and via a website search. Because horses have big eyes and tend to be accident-prone (Think: If there's trouble to be found, they will find it!) I ordered one to have on hand well before this incident occurred - just in case. I NEVER in a million years would have thought I'd need it for something like this. But, boy, was I EVER so glad I had it as he needed it immediately in order to protect his eyes from further damage. The Recovery Equivizor has been a literal eye-saver and a life-saver for me and my horse. I don't know what I would have done without it. His eye condition may have gotten much worse without the additional protection afforded by the visor. It stays on well and my horse doesn't seem to mind wearing it 24/7 while his eyes heal. I actually ordered a 2nd one recently to serve as a backup. We do not know if the uveitis could recur. The additional fly mask is also very helpful when turned out. I ordered the dark UV tint since his pupils were fully dilated from treatment with atropine. I highly recommend the dark tint with the additional black fly mask in order to help reduce light exposure to sensitive eyes - especially if turned out. Thank you...thank YOU!!!.... I searched the internet for a fly mask for my daughter's 4 yr. old warmblood. It came with some literature about the various protective masks for horses. We also have a 26 year old retired dressage horse, Pasco, who as had 7 corneal ulcers in the past. Just a few weeks ago, as fly season hit, he injured his eye again by rubbing his itchy eyes. I ordered the Protective Mask with Fly cover right away. He was a tricky fit but the sizing chart led us to the correct size which fits perfectly. His ulcer healed more quickly than usual since he could not rub. Now he wears his gear every day and I feel confident that his eyes are safe!! Thank you for an excellent product!! Yesterday was the first time wearing the visor. I thought it would be too large but it fits perfectly. My horse has just one eye and poor eyesight in her remaining eye. I’m not sure if she will be able to see very well when I need to put the fly guard on well have to wait and see. Otherwise I really like it and I think she can see with the UV tint. The Recovery Vizors in both the clear and Dark tint have been so beneficial for my blue eyed paint. He is prone to Equine Recurrent Uveitis, making it hard for him to be outside while his eyes are dilated. The tinted one saves his eyes from the sun as well as the elements- wind, debris, sand. Purchased for a horse with uveitis. Was hoping to be able to wear it during Canadian winter but now know it will crack in the cold. That is the downside. My horse in the meantime ended up needing an eye removed and it is working fantastically to keep his eye safe while it heals! Far better than a fly mask would!

My gelding got it off the first time, so I bet wrapped the straps so they could not loosen, and also took out the bridge strap and it’s been great! I like that he has extra protection over his eye and it won’t collapse down. When he laid in his stall, I did notice that it shifted on his face since he couldn’t lay his head flat down due to the build of the mask- but other than that, I love it!

I love this product! My horse has cancer on his eye and this is one thing that I really think will help him recover while he is on chemo. Only suggestion is that we grade if there was mesh over the holes, to make sure nothing would get in there.

When Penny sustained a fracture to her eye orbit & corneal ulceration , I was excited to find the protective visor for her. It was easy put on & she has protection for her injured eye. Only downfall is, I wish that it was for colder temperatures. Living in Alberta, we get colder than -17 degrees Celsius. I have to take it off of her when it gets colder. Roisin was a recent rescue that had sustained an eye injury. We noticed that even though the injury was healing she was very uncomfortable and agitated during the daylight. Since we are located in Florida, we could only let her out at night. Our veterinarian that specializes in eye issues diagnosed Roisin with nerve damage in that eye which did not allow the pupil to contract. This dark UV tinted allows Roisin to be outside, even on our sunniest days, with no problems. Now she does not have to be isolated in the darkest section of the barn which is making her into a much happier horse.

This mask is protecting Catella’s eyesight Can't say enough good things about this mask. It blocks the both UV rays and light. both of which appear to be triggers for flare ups of my horse who has uveitis. I was using the clear mask originally then covering it with a heavy mask to block light. Catella frequently got fungus infections on her face due to poor air circulation. This mask and fly jacket protect her eye but allow for good circulation. These mask are an invaluable tooling managing my horse’s eye condition.

The Best Mask to Protect the Eye During Recovery I purchased the tinted Equivizor Recovery mask for my mule to wear after eye surgery. It is the best!! She doesn't mind wearing it and can be turned out in it. I use the fly mask during the day to add UV protection and keep the bugs off. I am so happy that I found it. Equivizor Recovery Vizor with fly mask jacket For my 17H Belgian X Thorobred, the XL is a good fit. She has photosensitivity in the Spring and seemed especially bad this year, hanging out in the darkest corner of the run-in shed, not even wanting to leave it for meals. When she did come out her head jerked uncontrollably. After fitting the visor and mask, she was able to stay out in the pasture all day, grazing. She did not, however, lose the head-shaking when taken into the ring for work, even though she had her Vizor and mask on. (They allow me to bridle her without removing them.) It looks like I will have to wait for the head-shaking to subside in a month or 2 to use her, but in the meantime she is much more comfortable and happy when she is wearing the Vizor and mask. Eye Protection Our quarter horse had an allergic reaction to a sting from unknown source. Coolest Equine Shades I love the Equivizor and have already recommended it to 3 people. Sunny seems to enjoy wearing it but has days where he still tries to slip out of it. A few things I've noticed since we started using the mask. We've never really been able to do trails everything made him jump. With the mask on he is eager to hit the trails. It must truly have improved his vision for him. His Poll and his TMJ are no longer an issue. We have water posts (white) that he wouldn't use. Since the mask he has not stopped playing with it. We caught the uveitis at a very early stage but I still can't believe how much it has compromised his vision. The mask has really helped him. THANK YOU!

Best protective eye gear in the country This product is the best thing ever invented! It has been a God Send for Mr. Apache that only has one good eye left. To all that have horses with eye issues this product does the trick and completely protects the eyes. I use the fly mask by day and the protective gear at night and I have the eye specialist look at Apache every three months and the vet has all good things to say about this product. Great mask, but could use a little improvement! This mask is great! I could think of a few small things to improve it. 1. Putting a throat latch type piece in it. My mare was able to pull it off by rubbing and pulling the pill strap on a fence. If it doesn't stay on, it's not going to work for eye protection. 2. Maybe covering the nyalon straps with soft material so it doesn't rub them raw. I added my own "throat latch" piece, and covered the nyalon with the soft material, so so far, so good. It has made it so she can not rub and cause scratches to her cornea, and create ulcers in her eyes. I'm happy with it. Make sure u take it off every day to clean it, and check your horses eyes!

Pays for itself. An eye saver. This product is expensive, but I think it changed my horse's life. I purchased this mask in August 2015 for our horse Hawky, who is mostly if not 100% blind and suffers from uveitis. He wears it 24/7 and very rarely does he ever get the mask off. (Please note that this is NOT a horse who chronically takes off halters and fly masks.) Prior to having this mask Hawky was would have a severely irritated or scratched eye one to several times a month. The mask successfully provides much needed protection from the wind, sun, and from himself scratching his eye or hitting his head. This is evident not only by the fact that his eyes have looked the best that have ever consistently looked in years, but also by the fence paint scuff marks that are left on the mask. Those marks would be on his face if it wasn't for the recovery visor. It has greatly reduced out need to treat his eye eye with stressful, expensive, and time consuming topicals. After 10 months of 24/7 wear, the mask is starting to wear and I will be purchasing another one soon. We put a crusader fly mask with nose over top it in the summer and it works great. The mask does rub the bridge of his nose slightly but that is to be expected if anything is to be worn 24/7. The skin there has toughened and is no longer irritated. This is an invaluable product and I wanted to share my experience.

A Comfort to both of us My horse, Goldie, has chronic uveitis, which is a long, frustrating and sad tale that is going to end in blindness one way or the other. That aside, I have some comfort from the Equivizor mask, which was recommended by the staff at NC State Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. He wears it during the day now home at the barn to protect his dilated eye from sunlight and from potential injury due to rubbing, which earlier may have contributed to an ulcer. He doesn't mind it at all and it is easy to slip on and off. The future of his eye is uncertain at this point, but whether it involves surgery or continued meds, I am grateful for the mask.

recovery visor The first night my mare wore it, she managed to get it off. I think I didn't have it tight enough. But since then she has kept it on and seems comfortable in it. I like that she is more protected from sun/snow glare and eye injury. I plan on purchasing a 2nd one just so she will have an extra when I clean this one.
