How to Apply & Ensure a Correct Fit

Ensuring your Recovery Vizor is properly sized to your horse is essential to receiving the maximum benefits of its superior design elements.

Each order includes detailed instructions, tips and helpful reminders to properly size and fit the Recovery Vizor to your horse. Should you have any questions, we are always here to help!

Cleaning and Maintenance
- Wash with mild liquid soap, rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. Do NOT soak it in a solution or the clear Vizor will absorb the color turning it cloudy.
- The Recovery Vizor will inevitably scratch over time. How much really depends on the activity level of your horse and their environment. It is better the Vizor takes the bump & scratches then your horse’s eyes!
- Cold Weather: Temperatures below 32°F may result in cracking of the Vizor. The material will stiffen in colder weather when not on your horse. Simply use a hair dryer or safely leave in the front of a heater for a couple of minutes to soften and reshape prior to putting on your horse.
- Replacement Quick-Release Clips can be purchased on our website.

My horse had an ulcerated cornea and had to have a debridement procedure done and the eye protector I had been using was rubbing her raw in one spot. Getting your visor has been perfect no rubbing and I really like the holes for airflow which the previous one did not have and she can see with both eyes not having one totally covered up. The recovery visor has been a game changer for us! My mare had repeated corneal abrasions resulting in indolent ulcers. They were taking 5 to 6 weeks to heal and she was itchy under her protective fly mask. After trying this out, the latest one healed in a week, she isn't sweaty/itchy, and can see out of this much better than a fly mask. We are trying it out as a preventative for future abrasions as well. I'm so grateful for this product!

We have only had the vizor for about a month but I feel it is definitely going to make our 32 year old pony's life so much better. My mare has been wearing the Recovery vizor for turnout and outdoor riding for about 3 years now. It is the only thing that has controlled her IMMK (Immune Mediated Kerititis) because of the UV protection. She has less eye flare ups and is much more comfortable. I almost thought she would have to loose her eye that the flares were so bad. Who knew that UV was the root cause of all her pain!. She will wear the Vizor for the rest of her life. Also, she can see out of the mask better than any other mask, and it keeps the dirt from getting packed in her eyes. She even wears it when trailered. Wish she stared wearing the mask earlier, would have prevented years of pain.

This is an invaluable item in my barn now! It only is had it at the time my horse poked his eye on a tree branch I could have avoided the surgery that it resulted in. He rubbed it raw (his cornea) in his usual fly mask. I ordered this and now he can’t. He’s recovering with the help of this mask. I’m ordered another in a smaller size just in case any of my others do something stupid in the future!

Great visor, was a life saver when she injured her right eye after she had already injured her left eye. The eye saver didn’t work for both eyes, this was perfect! Only negative comment I have is that there was a large sticker put directly on the mask, it was very hard to remove the residue and left a faint square outline where the sucker had been. But that didn’t affect the functionality at all. Great visit.

My mare Venus is so sensitive to gnats that she was streaming tears and gunk and her eyes were almost swollen shut. They itched so badly that she was rubbing her face on trees, the ground, the fence, buildings, and me! When she tore her inner eyelid on the fence wire the vet said I had to get your recovery visor or she was going to end up cutting her cornea. She is on antihistamine powder in her food and anti-inflammatory eye ointment but it wasn't until I added the visor that her eyes started healing. I especially like that she can't get the visor off.

Wonderful product. My mare has an ulcer in each eye. Very difficult to protect her with traditional eye masks suited to protect only one from rubbing due to injury. It fits well and stays put. My darling brat covers it in dirt/grass with her rolling. She did get a few superficial irritated areas from the straps even with my close inspection 5 times daily during treatment. Easily corrected with DIY sheepskin flannel padding applied to the straps. My beautiful girl has had eye issues once before and it became quite bad. It was very difficult to protect both of her eyes. Luckily this time she is doing well and healing well. I am considering a second vizor purchase with the intent of full-time use. I would like to avoid this issue in the future completely (for both of us :-)).

My gelding had two corneal abrasions within a couple of months so my vet recommended protective eye wear. I tried having him wear a fly mask but he got it off almost every day and it was a task putting it on in the morning and taking if off after dark. My friend, who is a farrier, had a client that used your Recovery Visor on her horse so recommended it for my gelding, Biggs. He has worn it 24 hours a day for over a week now without getting it off once so it must be comfortable for him to wear. Biggs is not stalled so is exposed to potential hazards and he has not had any problems since wearing it. Another point I'd like to make is that I was still treating his eye when he started wearing the Recovery Visor and it was very easy to unclip the lower straps, flip the visor up, and put ointment in his eye.

My horse of 10 years (he is approximately 18 years old) all of a sudden went blind. We are not sure why but we knew we had to do something for him as he was running into things and hurting himself and his eyes more. So we ordered the visor to help him out and he has been doing great with it. He has only managed to get it off once (he's Houdini when it comes to stuff he doesn't want on him) and he stood on it and it never broke or cracked. It has a few scratches but since he's blind he doesn't know. The visor sticks out far enough that he usually bumps the visor first before he bumps any part of his head, which is what we wanted. Shadow has recurring uveitis and nothing would stop him from rubbing. Bought this hoping it would stop the rubbing and help him heal. So far it's been great! But, I bought the clear lense so he could see in his stall at night and the flymask that comes with it isn't dark enough. His eyes tear from the sun when he's outside during the day. His eyes have gotten better so now he only wears it at night in his stall and then wears a regular flymask during the day to protect his sensitive eyes from the sun.

Vet was coming weekly and we'd get to where it was looking good and then she'd rub it on something and get an ulcer. Love this recovery visor. My wonderful gelding is recovering from squamous cell carcinoma removal from his right eyelid. As you can by the photo, my mare loves to roll with her muddies and mud wallow. She rubs her face and eyes in the mud and injured her pretty badly for awhile. This masks stays on quite well and protects her peepers. I have to " wash her windshield" twice a day (wipe with a damp cloth & dry) but it's worth it to avoid that terrible injury again as well as giving her uv eye protection. . Give this product a try! Their Goggle's for horses for riding are quite cool, too!

We really love the recovery visor! The vet & tech were impressed, too! (I showed them your dog & cat products, too! )It protects both eyes at the same time, unlike the old fashion blinker hoods with one eye cup completely enclosing the eye (it gets very little air, which the vet was concerned with. Fungal infections can brew in that closed environment) the visor has adequate air flow while still protecting the eyes & the fly jacket cover works great! My mare loves to roll in the mud & rub her face and eyes in it, too! (Hence the eye injury) Luckily, the visor protects her eyes from her spa time in the mud (I just wipe out with a wet cloth and then dry it). Very simple to care for! I can send you pics of her wearing your " mud face" recovery visor if you'd like. She should be ashamed. I assure u, she is not!

I really like that this mask has UV protection and it lets me see my horse's beautiful eyes. She's out in pasture 24/7 with free choice shelter and the mask has held up quite well. It has come off a few times but is easy to put back on. It's easy to clean. I wonder, though, if I didn't get too big of one. She was right on the line of a L or XL and I went with XL.

Corneal ulcer quickly infected with Fusarium fungus. Mare required corneal transplant with graft. Visor very effective in protecting the eyes and putting the fly mask over it keeps light out of the surgical eye and not only flies away, but also prevents shavings & debris from accumulating beneath the visor. Only downside is the visor needs a thicker protective padding around edges to prevent face sores, and softer more skin friendly straps!

I love this mask! I have peace of mind when my horse, who has uveitis, is in turnout with many trees and four other horses. I call it his "eye helmet". It really protects him from all the hazards of turnout trees and he gets his quality of life.

I recommend the Recovery Visor for horses having sensitive eyes. I used mine to aid in the recovery from a corneal abrasion with a minor infection. Immediate progress was made once the Recovery Visor was in use, as it prevents my horse from rubbing the eye, which had previously been keeping it flared up, It also protects it from the wind. I use the tinted Recovery Visor with the fly mask during the day, and the clear one minus the fly mask at night. She is already close to being well within one week of using the product, after having been on meds for six weeks with veterinary supervision. I clean the masks with a clean soft damp cloth daily. I will continue to use them for protection from the wind and intense summer sun, as her eyes tend to be sensitive. This is the product I have needed all along. Thank you, Protective Pet Solutions!

This is my second Recovery Vizor for my old mare with recurrent uveitis. The first one has lasted 5 years with sporadic use (as needed during flare ups). I purchased a new one as the first one has had years of "scratches" and rubs and the visibility has dulled (but it still fits and works. I wanted a new "clear" Vizor for her to wear 24/7 this summer as it is dusty and windy here in the summer.

This is Woody. He is a much loved member of our family. He has glaucoma in his right eye, which is already non-visual. He will likely have to have it taken out soon. Obviously, we are VERY careful to protect his remaining “good” eye. He has only been wearing this a couple of weeks, but he tolerates it well. It seems to be doing its job. This mask has been perfect for our horse who is recovering from a Squamous Cell Carcinoma removal from his eyelid. Other medical masks block out vision on the affected side, but this mask offers protection while still allowing him to see on that side. Our mini tore his left lower eyelid almost completely off, and a fly mask was simply not going to keep him from rubbing his stitches. Being a large mini, we had trouble finding any medical masks that would fit him without slipping and causing more damage to his eye. Then we found the EquiVizor Recovery Vizor! It was perfect! The Recovery Visor did the job exactly like it claims. It stayed on well in all situations - running, rolling, rubbing, etc. It kept the dirt out and the straps didn't rub and bother his face like another brand that I originally had - that one wore terrible sores behind ears. The only thing that was disappointing is that the plastic scratched so bad that after several months of wearing it he couldn't see through it with his good eye. But then you did say it would scratch, and maybe they're not particularly made to wear for months, but he needed to. I need to have another surgery on his eye, so I've purchased a second Recovery Visor so he'll start with a clear one again. Wish there was something to do to keep them from scratching. Otherwise, it's a fantastic product!
