Our dog had cataract surgery at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center of Tufts University. She needed to protect her eyes at all times but the cone was cumbersome, knocked into things and didn’t help outdoors because branches and twigs could breach it. She was agitated after the surgery because of prednisone but we couldn’t fit her in her old crate with the cone so she would pace overnight and bang into things. A soft cone improved the noise level over the rigid one she came home in. Her doctor mentioned the Optivizor in the post-visit notes. We were impressed with the quick turnaround on our order. It made an immediate improvement to our dog’s quality of life and ours — better sleep and ability to walk on our regular trail without getting tangled in branches.

Overall positive experience, to make the product better, the visor can be flip up or down for easy administer of eye meds, i was under the impression this face cover could replace the Elizabethan cone, but it didn't, so i used it as a face mask for after full recovery to protect her eyes. the Velcro strap on and off is "stupid", a clip on with preset (by owners) would make it so much easier....

This is a great product except for one thing. The mask irritated my dog’s nose and the corners of her mouth. I purchased a silicone u channel edge guard to add to the perimeter of the visor. It did the trick to keep her from irritating her face further. It would be great if a length of self adhesive u channel guard was included along with the foam piece to enhance the comfort.

Because we live in Canada it did take some time to receive the mask. But the mask is great fit well easy to apply. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Customer service didn't get back to me about measurements via the website, but they did respond right away over email and then were very attentive on helping with the fit. They gave me the honest assessment that a Japanese Chin will be particularly hard to fit, and that was true. It took trying a handful of sizes to get the right fit. My dog ended up with the new style short snout mini. The mini will not come off no matter what he tries (and he has tried many things). Notably, you need the right size for a Japanese Chin, because my dog could easily get out of the next size up. I'm glad the optivisor worked because we needed his eye to heal from surgery for an indolent ulcer, and he could get out of any other visor brand we tried (I bought at least a dozen). In a cone he could smash his face to the side to get at his eye, or lunge at the corner of pillows. Nothing he tries allows him to scratch or rub his eye in the optivisor. I was hoping the optivisor could also prevent my dog from licking his eye ball constantly. The optivisor discourages it, but unfortunately, he can still get his tongue up in the mask. Perhaps if I cut and adjusted it more, we could get a closer fit. I did try and ended up cutting the visor too high, making me need to order a new one. That's entirely my fault though. The vets were worried my dog could not heal his ulcer because of his eye licking, but I guess the optivisor discouraged it sufficiently enough that the ulcer did heal, which was a relief and helped prevent a full eye removal for now. If he has future eye injuries and surgeries to heal from, we will definitely use this visor again. Finally, an important note: you need someone with dexterous and gentle hands to get this on and off a short snout dog without hurting the dog. A male family member who has very large and somewhat clumsy hands could not do it.

The Optivizor is a great product. My dog had an eyelid mass removed and had a needle biopsy of another small mass which turned out to be a cyst. We started with the NovaGuard in the event the second mass required surgical removal. Once I knew only the eye mass was being removed, I ordered the OptiVizor. It made eating, drinking, and sniffing so much easier. Moose never tried to take it off. I highly recommend this product for eye protection.

Best purchase we have made by far. Obi unfortunately found himself with an injured eye to the point he almost lost it. As a short snout dog traditional cones just dont work well to protect his eyes. This is the best protection and fits him perfectly. He loves the freedom it gives. He can still play with his toys, eat/drink normally, and sleeps perfectly with it on. Our vet was thrilled with it and it truly saved his eye. It is now a staple for outside wear since he is at higher risk of having a repeat injury. The pictures and measurements really made this process so simple, and we got just what we needed in the right size. Which is difficult for us as he is odd shaped and doesn't fit typical weight or size standards for his breed.

product works very well! Protects eyes after surgery. Much better than cone collar. He is able to eat and drink just fine.

One of our Frenchie girls unfortunately suffered a devastating eye injury. She was living in the usual cone of shame but she started to develop an ear infection and rash under her short jaw, even though we were cleaning and treating her several times daily. I researched for eye protective wear and that’s how I found out about these life changing visors. The day we got it, we adjusted the visor to fit her head and ears from the directions included with the visor. It has been nothing short of amazing. She is able to eat and drink normally and her activity level is back to super charged funny clown frenchie because she is so comfortable in it. At her last Vet appointment, everyone was so impressed with the visor. And because of the added protection over her eye, her eye is healing faster. We both work in Veterinary Hospitals and both hospitals are recommending your visor to patients.

Henry had corneal graft surgery in one eye and has an ulcer in the other eye that doesn’t require surgery. He doesn’t seem to mind his Optivizor at all! It was easy to put on him and the quality of this product is excellent! It seems really durable and well made.

We purchased an Optivizor for our dog, Neela, after she lost one eye to sudden-onset glaucoma and became blind in her remaining eye. I was nervous about how she would adjust, but this has already given me so much peace of mind. The visor helps protect her face and remaining eye area from bumping into walls, furniture, and other objects while she learns her surroundings again. It’s lightweight, easy to put on, and surprisingly durable. Neela adjusted to wearing it much faster than I expected. One thing I really appreciate is that it allows her to maintain confidence and independence instead of constantly being fearful of getting hurt. As a pet parent, that means everything. If you have a blind dog, a dog with vision loss, or a pup recovering from eye surgery, I absolutely recommend giving the Optivizor a try. It has been worth every penny for us.

He’s mostly comfortable in the visor but you can see scratch marks on it. His surgery was 2 days ago and we hadn’t noticed his scratching it but did just notice these while cleaning it just today.

A perfect solution to provide safety for his recovery and still allow him to be a puppy.

I worked very hard to get this product from the US to Ecuador and all of my efforts have paid off! My sweet little 15.5 year old Chorkie has been in a cone since December 18! It is May 19 now and she can finally feel free again!

Our dog had a corneal ulcer, and, while she was very chill about the standard cone, this offered a less-cumbersome profile and more protection. She was a little fussy about having her whole head covered, but she would settle into it. Vet just declared her eye healed. My only suggestion: Velcro straps are not great for a long haired dog. Thanks for all.

Hex is a 12 yr old Chinese Crested with cataracts. His dr says that he still has vision but he keeps walking into things, like sticks, weeds, poles, and car bumpers. He hates wearing glasses and is really good at taking them off so I needed a better solution to keep him from jamming a stick into an eye. We have had our Optivizor for a week now and Hex still doesn't like it. I do, though. No more fears and he is unable to remove it. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it becomes second nature for him. The main thing is that the Optivizor is the solution to my fears of walking a blind dog. I've already met several others with blind dogs and they are now thinking of trying one also. Good job Optivizor people!!

Our frenchie needed emergency corneal ulcer surgery while we were on vacation. We needed it next day delivery as she was having surgery that day. It came promptly to the rv park we were staying at and our Opthalmology specialist said that it fit her perfectly. She was able to run around, eat and drink easily without her bulky cone. It also protected her eye against the wind and dust outside. Make sure to be patient with the measurement and photos as stated. My husband got frustrated with how particular the photos had to be taken, but so glad he worked with me to get it right. You won’t go wrong if your pet has had any kind of eye surgery and needs longer term protection.

Received a brochure, followed directions on web site, emailed pictures and measurements, awaited response from vendor with recommended sizes and ordered both. Visors arrived quickly vua priority USPS. Mailed vendor with picture of visor on Brownie and vendor suggested adjustments to placement of visor. Fantastic end result!

It's great quality, and good technology. Although it's going to take time to make my girl to wearing it. She's almost blind on her only eye and this vizor will protect her eye and face from bumping into things and walls. Thank you!!

I wanted to thank Protective Pet Solutions for all their good work providing access to this product. We've tried the halo, and some other products to help protect our hard of sight dog, but have had a hard time finding something that works in the small space we live in. From the early on process, the website does a great job walking us through the measuring, to ensure we were getting the correct size for our dog, and im really glad they did. We are so happy with the optivizor, as it fits well, and does a great job protecting her eyes and face from the small bumps as she gets around. Its provided a lot of comfort to us as well, as it can be hard watching our elderly fur babies have a hard time getting around when they lose their site. Just wanted to leave some appreciation here, and provide a review to other fur parents that are looking for a solution to eye and face protection for their hard of site dogs as well. We are very happy with it, thank you so much!

Our dog cut his eyelid and after surgery, he was extremely anxious using the traditional cone. He wouldn't eat or want to go outside. I found this visor and decided to try it, hoping it would help and it did! He was more confident and happy again. I am so happy we found this visor! Thank you!

Addie did great with this visor! It took her a day or so to get used to it.. hates anything on her head/face. She had a terribly deep ulcer and was at risk for rupturing her eye. Ordered on a Friday for a Tuesday surgery, and they got it to us in time! So grateful to have found this site and that our baby was protected while she healed.

I didn’t think he would love it! But he tolerates it so well. My old man got cornea abrasion that wouldn’t heal. The stiff cones were a huge problem because of his mobility issues. The inflatables didn’t protect him from rubbing his eye on the couch. So here comes the Optivisor! It’s been a blessing. So happy a product like this exist.

Lowen had a corneal ulcer and needed eye protection. He was having difficulty walking and drinking with the cone on, so this is amazing. He is able to play, eat, drink, and sleep more comfortably. Thank you!

My poodle mix had a button tumor on her eye that she kept rubbing open. It was huge, angry, puss filled, and growing each day. This product is allowing the tumor to heal! I clean the tumor and shield once a day. She is able to eat and drink with it on. The tumor is no longer inflamed and is almost gone. I highly recommend them.

Our sweet Boston Terrier had surgery to repair a deep corneal ulcer on her left eye. The OptiVizor protects further injury to her eyes when she’s out for walks and playing with friends. It’s fits her well and she’s comfortable wearing it. This is a wonderful product.

This mask has been a life-changer for my baby girl. I am also very impressed with the level of professionalism from PPS as they are insistent about sending the right sized product for your furry companion. Measuring the head was not fun, but I appreciate the company taking the measurements and giving me options of what sizes would fit best.

Our veterinary surgeon recommended the OptiVizor to us a few days before our pug puppy was scheduled for bilateral eye surgery. He had to have his right eye removed (he was attacked by a larger dog at 8 weeks and 3 days old) and his left eye required a lot of reconstruction. Our pupper had already been wearing a cone for most of his life and he just thought that was normal… What a big change for him when he got an OptiVizor that fit his little head/face! (The surgery center sent us home with an OptiVizor that was too large and we had to go back to the cone until this one arrived. It came very late, but that was not the company’s fault at all and they were very prompt to communicate with me about the shipping delay. It was all a USPS problem. We’re very happy with the OptiVizor and how much more comfortable our little guy is now. No more trouble sleeping, no more difficulty eating or drinking, no more running into furniture or door jams, etc. He’s going to be wearing this thing indefinitely and it seems sturdy enough to last a long time. We’ll probably have to buy him a bigger size as he grows before he breaks the visor (for reference - he wrecked TWO expensive cones prior to getting the visor). I would 100% recommend the OptiVizor to anyone with a pet that needs strong protection for their eyes. For reference, our little guy is a little over 10lbs and has loads of skin folds, but he has a tiny head and super flat/squashed in face. He came home in a mini sized short nosed visor and it was way too large. We ordered a mini-mini but they communicated clearly that we may need to exchange it for the even smaller size due to his little head. Fortunately, the mini-mini fits!

We are a week away from surgery

A wonderful product to protect your pet's face

I liked that his eye were covered but it made giving eye drops more difficult.

Works well to protect her eyes.

Took my dog to blue pearl veterinary in Pennsylvania. They recommended looking this up on your website. Not as bulky as the cone. It is easy to put on and off. A lot easier for the dog to sleep in it because she has to be in a 24 seven because of eye surgery. When I went to another vet, they were very impressed with it. I gave him the website information. I would highly recommend it for anybody whose dog has to have any kind of eye surgery.

I am one of your advocates now letting vets and people know they do not have to use the cone shaped head gear any more...

My dog had eye surgery and he is unable to close his left eye. When we go on walks, he likes to stick his face into bushes and into the grass and because he can’t close his eye he was getting abrasions in and around eye. The visor does a nice job of shielding his eye, but allowing him to still sniff and smell as we walk.

I cannot thank you enough for helping me get the correct visor. The first visor I ordered worked so well, that I wanted another. I actually made a mistake in ordering the second one and Customer Service caught the error. They realized quickly the visor I needed and sent me the correct visor. It is the Toy and Small REGULAR Snout (Orange). It is perfect for my Jack Russell. This product is amazing and definitely protects my dog’s eyes from getting scratched. He’s already blind in one eye so we are trying our best to protect the other one. Thank you so much! Mary & JETER

Scotty was born with Dwarfism and as a result has many deformities. The cone would have interfered with his quality of life and independence. The optivizor allowed him to keep his independence and quality of life.

Great product. Our pup George liked it a lot better than the cone!

Optivizor Short Snout Original (Mini-Mini Size) for an American Shorthair Cat Our American Shorthair cat had a fast-growing tumor in his right eye. Because of this, he underwent enucleation (surgical removal of the eye) and a permanent tarsorrhaphy (a procedure where the eyelids are partially sewn together to protect the eye area). We first tried a standard Elizabethan collar (E-collar), which helped, but it had some limitations. I discovered the Optivizor after asking ChatGPT for better alternatives, and it guided me to Optivizor.com. From there, the website listed official distributors by region—including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, USA, Canada, and Mexico. Naturally, I selected the U.S. option, which directed me to ProtectivePetSolutions.com. The Optivizor solved many of the problems we had with the E-collar. Our cat can now eat and drink comfortably, move around without bumping into walls or furniture, and the fit is secure while still allowing him freedom of movement. Most importantly, the Optivizor protects his eye area from debris (tiny particles), litter, food, water, and from scratching. He is even able to sleep in it comfortably, which helps him rest and recover better. The only issue we experienced was with adjusting the chin strap. I contacted Protective Pet Solutions by email for help. While they replied within 2–3 days, email alone was not ideal for step-by-step guidance. It would be much more helpful if they offered live support options like Zoom or Facebook Messenger. They also do not respond over the weekend, which is understandable but challenging during a recovery period. Still, I highly recommend the Optivizor. It is a great product for both cats and dogs, especially those recovering from eye surgery or dealing with eye conditions. Even our veterinary ophthalmologist (animal eye specialist) from a teaching hospital was impressed when I brought it in, and I shared the Optivizor website with them. Our neighbor, who is the aunt of a veterinarian, was also excited to learn about this device. I gave her the link to ProtectivePetSolutions.com, and she plans to share it with her niece.

Our sweet Moose is a 13 y.o. mostly chocolate lab with corneal ulcers. The "cone of shame" has been his constant companion for the past 6 weeks of ointment, drops, and ongoing discomfort. The vet specialist suggested we try the Optivisor and we were skeptical but followed the advice to stick with it and READ the directions! It worked and is so much more comfortable (and less obnoxious/annoying!) than the cone. As a mutt, he's probably in between sizes but with the clear directions and suggestions on creating a better fit, it has worked beautifully. THANK YOU, we're all happier!
